The Tailor's Daughter

Faatimah Stevens, Muralist

    The daughter and granddaughter of renown tailors and designers, all originally from Memphis. Stevens is currently based in Athens, Georgia after she completed her foundation studies at the Atlanta College of Art and Illustration at Savannah College of Art and Design, before earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Georgia State University. In 2023, she continued her studies internationally at Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti (NABA) in Milan, Italy, where she focused on Textile Design and Applied Arts as a Summer Scholarship Award recipient.

  Recognized for her signature linear aesthetic, Stevens creates dynamic compositions that contour iconic features, figures, and landscapes with detail and precision. Her mural work has become widely recognizable throughout Atlanta, appearing in collaborations with Mercedes-Benz Stadium, AT&T and Living Walls, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, The Gathering Spot, and the Forward Warrior Mural Festival. Her public works merge storytelling with empowerment, transforming shared spaces into sites of reflection, beauty, and cultural dialogue.

         In addition to her public art, Stevens has worked extensively across creative industries as an installation designer, illustrator, apparel designer, set designer, and art director. Her creative contributions include brand display installations for national events, interior set design work for Tyler Perry Studios, mural and set design for a STARZ television series, and illustration work with Thoughtly Crew and with international brands. Her work has been featured in juried and group exhibitions, and she was recognized as a First Place Award recipient in Wired Italia Magazine’s Visual Brand Design Competition in collaboration with Domus Academy in Milan. Her interdisciplinary background informs a practice that moves seamlessly between commercial design, experiential environments, and fine art.

     As an educator, Stevens currently serves as an Art Instructor at Downtown Academy in Athens, Georgia, where she mentors and encourages emerging artists through her personalized curriculum. Beyond her artistic practice, Stevens is an Ambassador for the Gates Millennium Scholars Alumni Association, a member of the Scholars Equity Network’s Atlanta chapter, and an active member of Create Athens. Across every medium and collaboration, her work remains rooted in expression that has the power to connect people, transform environments, and create lasting cultural impact.
